Recently,
as I passed the shop of Ruby Ramirez near the zocolo in
Taxco, I popped in and saw a trunk full of oversized brightly
colored naïve style Taxco motif tiles were for sale. After
picking out a selection Ken, her husband told me that they were
being produced in Mexico City, "Probably by kids who have
never seen Taxco in person!" and that they were very popular
with tourists. I plan to install them, along with another "Calle
del Arcos" that was out of stock, in a Talavera style kitchen.
