enjoy these older Semana Santa photographs by the noted Tasqueño
artist and photographer Juan Crisostomos Estrada who has
artistically rendered over 50 years of Taxco life. These photos were taken
between 1950 and 1958 shortly after the Easter processions became a tradition
in Taxco. Each year he has lettered the 'Sentencia de Jesus'. I am struck
by the timelessness of the poses and the close similarities to my photographs
taken during Semana Santa of 2002
and 2004.
