Rest Stops on Interstate I-5 in California
Sepiatone Photographs ©2002 Stephen Dyer Wells

Along Interstate I-5 in the state of California one passes many mundane rest stops where for a few brief moments we relieve our bladders, stretch tight limbs, munch sandwiches, check the load, walk the dog, horse or cat and generally relief the stress of the highway. I have long thought that they were an viable photo assignment, since I saw in their very mundaneness an artistic challenge. The only rule is that they be shot while at a California reststop on I-5. These photos were made with a digital Olympus C3030z camera, (after a long hiatus from silver based film) on trips to San Diego and back to Nor-Cali. These digitally stitched panoramas were compiled with Enroute's QUICK STITCH and PANORAMA FACTORY software. Then sepiatone was applied in Photoshop6.
