Driving north along California route #101 on the REDWOOD HIGHWAY in Mendocino County one reaches the Smithe Grove State park. This same bucolic spot was for many years known as "Lanes Redwood Flat" a popular stopping off spot on the road north. These photos were taken during the last century when it was an active tourist attraction.
