One dark, cold
winter morning we hurried to our offices at RubyGro Press. In the
rush to get out of the frost and start a fire in the woodstove that
heats our digs, we stumbled over a bundle blocking our path. The
bundle was wrapped in a brown plastic trash bag and secured with
silver duct tape. (We don't often receive manuscripts in this manner.)
After we got
the fire built, and some coffee ready, we sat down to inspect the
"baby on the doorstep". That baby is what follows: An
intimate account of life as a Marijuana Grower on the California
Northcoast. The story is altered enough to protect the characters
anonymity; yet remains true to their experience. We
believe this is a story that needs to meet the light of day.
Now, once again
"Drug Hysteria" sweeps the United States; with again,
little
chance of a successful conclusion to the "Drug Wars".
Beyond drugs and "Killer
Weed" this is a graphic account of a para-military government
agency (CAMP) run amuck and the social consequences of those actions;
an agency which still today expands its' activities and influence.
