Old Taxco Vintage Pastel Drawings  by Vladimir Bobri
Oh that we might return to the past
of uncrowded byways and antique lifestyle.

Click Here For 1949 Berninghaus PaintingTaxco is truly an enchanted city although today's visitor will encounter a very busy hillside town bustling with VW taxis and buses and the clamor of hordes of tourist invaders daily, unlike the world of 1945-47 when Vladimir Bobri a Ukrainian born Guitarist, Author, Composer and Illustrator visited Taxco and from his artwork these 12 pastels were published in an edition of 1000 copies. I found my copy of this rare book on ebay.com.

After the Russian revolution of 1917, a talented painter by the name of Vladimir Bobritzki left his Ukrainian birthland forever, as did many other artists from all over Russia. The western world then afforded him a new name in New York: Bobri.

Vladimir Bobri and the history of the New York Society of the Classic Guitar. "The first (Society) was most notable for having legendary composer and educator Vladimir Bobri as its President, with artistic direction from Andres Segovia.Vladimir Bobri, born in 1898, formed the New York Society of the Classic Guitar in 1936. The first issue of Guitar Review was published in 1946. In 1983, Guitar Review was sold and in 1985, Mr. Bobri stepped down as Editor. Tragically, Mr. Bobri died in a house fire in 1986 and sadly much of his life work was destroyed.
